Chettinadu Chicken Curry

Hi Readers.. Wishing you all wonderful new year.. Since I was in vacation, I couldnt able post any new recipes.. Now I am back..:-) Lets kickstart  with a special  chettinadu chicken curry...Before marriage every sunday my mother wake up me with idly and chicken curry without that sunday is not get fulfilled... I miss those days:-(Nowadays i can make chicken curry only for lunch..To bring the authentic taste of this dish every i used to call my mother to clarify the doubts...but mom taste is always special we can get from her only:-)The aroma of freshly ground masala is the speciality of this dish you are sure to fill your house with some great aroma while cooking this dish.

Ingredients :

½ kg
2 Medium size
Ginger-garlic paste
1 tsp
Turmeric Powder
1 tsp
Chicken Masala or Curry Masala Powder
1 tsp
As needed
As needed

To Grind :

Small Onion
100 gms or 1 Big one
Red Chillies
6-8 nos
6 cloves
1 inch
Coriander Seeds
1 tbsp
Cumin seeds
1 tsp
1 tsp
1 inch
Fennel seeds
½ tsp
Grated Coconut
½ cup
2 tbsp

Steps :

  • Roast the ingredients under 'To Grind' with a tsp of oil...Cool and grind into a smooth paste.
  • In a pan add 2 tbsp of oil when it hot add mustard seeds when it pops up add thinly sliced onion fry till golden brown then add ginger garlic paste fry till raw smell leaves.
  • Add finely chopped tomatoes,turmeric powder and salt fry till gets mushy.
  • Then add the chicken mix well and close the lid till get half cooked.
  • Then add the grounded paste and needed water,close the lid and cook in a low flame till chicken gets soft and oil separates.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
