Rava Semiya Kichadi


This is a typical South Indian breakfast made with rava, vermicelli and veggies. This is one of my weekend breakfast, this tastes great with coconut chutney. If u haven’t tried this combo just give it a try:)


Ingredients:

Rava
½ cup
Vermicelli
½ cup
Onion
1 big one
Tomato
1
Turmeric Powder
A pinch
Green chillies
4
Red Chillies
2
Ginger
½ inch
Mixed Vegetables(peas,carrot,beans)
½ cup
Lemon
1/2
Coriander Leaves
few

To Temper :


Ghee
1 tbsp
Oil
1 tbsp
Mustard seeds
1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds
½ tsp
Channa dhal
1 tsp
Urad dhal
1 tsp
Cashew nut
2-3

Method :


Roast the rava and vermicelli separately in a tsp of ghee, keep it aside

  1. Heat a oil in pan and add the items under 'To Temper' table.
  2. After cumin seeds splutters add curry leaves and chopped onions, ginger and salt  fry till golden brown, then  add  green chillies and red chillies fry for a min
  3. Add the tomatoes followed by turmeric powder fry till the tomatoes becomes mushy.
  4. Add the chopped veggies, some salt and cup of water and cover the pan let it cook until veggies are tender.
  5. Once the vegetables are cooked add the roasted rava stir gently for 2 min then add vermicelli along with some hot water if needed mix together in medium flame and close the lid and cook for 5 mins until well cooked.
  6. Squeeze the lemon juice and mix well and finely chopped coriander leaves.
  7. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
