Rava Ladoo

Rava Ladoo / rava Ladoo is a simple and exocitic sweet made with Semolina/ Rava / Soji. Every year my grandma used to make rava ladoo for local temple festival. I used to follow her recipe for this Diwali. This is the first time am preparing this ladoo. If am in india i got lot of sweets for "Thala Diwali"  but I cant go because of my hubby's work so I tried one of this easy recipe to make my Diwali sweetfull. It tasted delicious but these laddus do not have a long self life as we have added milk and coconut to it.Hope you all enjoy with this exotic sweet.


Rava/Semolina/Sooji    -     1 cup
Grated Coconut    -    1/2 
cup Sugar        -                1.5 cup
Ghee        -     2 tbsp

Cashew nuts    -    10(broken)
Raisins        -    10
Cardamom Powder    -    1/4 tsp
Milk        -    1/2 cup 


  1. Heat one tbsp of ghee in pan and roast the rava in medium heat till you get a nice smell of roasted rava make sure to not burn the rava and roast evenly. To ensure this,keep stirring continuously...

  2. Cool down and grind it into a very fine powder using mixer. Powder the sugar as well,along with cardamom. Transfer the powdered rava and sugar to a large bowl.

  3.  In Same pan add one tbsp of ghee and roast the grated coconut till it changes light brown colour and smell of roasted coconut mix it with the roasted rava in a bowl.

  4. Fry broken cashews and raisins in a tsp of ghee and add these to the rava mixture.

  5.  Heat the milk and Sprinkle it in rava mixture little by little mix well and close it for five mins..

  6.  Make a small ball / ladoo, if rava mixture is too dry add some more boiled milk into it...
