Prawn Gravy

Most of us likes seafoods but we dont cook often in our house. Seafoods involves lots of cleaning process. I was bit scared to try cooking seafoods. One day, I went to my sister house and she prepared wonderful King Prawn dish. It is very healthy and tasty side dish for rice and roti. My sister explained me the process.. WoW :) Very easy dish.. Modern super markets making our life lot easier.. In super markets, cooked and peeled prawns available.. Little cleaning is sufficient.. This dish can be prepared under 20 minutes.  



King Prawns - 1 cup cleaned
Onion - 2
Tomato - 2 juicy ones
Green chill - 3 slit into 2
Red Chilli powder - 2 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp

Turmeric powder - a generous pinch
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Coriander leaves
Salt - a pinch

To temper:

Oil - 3 tsp
Cinnamon -1/2 inch piece
Cloves - 2
Bayleaf - 1 teared roughly
cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - few


  1. Wash and clean the prawns and keep it aside
  2. Heat the oil in kadai add the cinnamn,cloves and bay leaf and cumin seeds when it spluters add the sliced onion and stir till it becomes golden brown  and add the ginger garlic paste stir till raw smell goes then add the green chilles and curry leaves stir for 1 min
  3. Add the finely chopped tomatoes let it cook for 2 min then add turmeric powder,chilli powder,corriander powder,garam masala powder let it cook till oil separates
  4. At this stage add the prawns and mix well and cover the lid, til prawns get cooked.. Hardly it will take 10 - 15 mins.
